THE MAN WHO NEEDED SHOES by Grace Smith

Four of the members of Lighthouse Family Church visit the Provincial Hospital every second Saturday afternoon. We pray for the patients and as the opportunity provides –seek to share the gospel with them. Keith, one of our members had the privilege of leading one of the men to accept Christ as his saviour. After praying with him, the patient asked if we could not get him a size 8 pair of shoes. I asked our minister if I could share about the need during our Sunday service, and he said yes.

When I told the congregation of his need for a pair of size 8 shoes – one of the members went out to his car and before the service was over gave me a new pair of size 8 shoes. His fiancé had said to him that morning “Don’t forget to put the shoes in the so that we can exchange them”– they had been left at home for 3 weeks. God’s timing is perfect – that afternoon we took the shoes to the patient in the hospital.

I marvelled at God’s goodness and provision- it reminded me of the verse in the Bible in Mathew 10 v29-31 where it reminds us that He knows about the little sparrow that falls to the ground and says we are of more value than one sparrow. God knows all about us and cares for us even to the provision of a pair shoes.
