Many years ago a group of young men went down to the Jordan River to cut down trees so that they can build a bigger house. As one was cutting down a tree, the iron axe head fell into the water. The end of the world? No! Surely it is not to difficult to replace an axe. But the young man was horrified. Why was he so upset? It was a borrowed ax.
Who would be concerned about this young man's dilemma? God was and He made the iron float! The axe head was retrieved and the young man went home in peace.
Is God concerned about our trivial dilemmas today? Yes, just as He was then.
Let me tell you what happened on the 14th of March this year.
I participated in the Bruintjieshoogte 25km road race in Somerset East. I was extremely excited beforehand as it was a first for me to run this distance. I travelled with friends to Somerset East the Friday before the race. We stayed in a school hostel and enjoyed a pasta meal at the registration venue.
We went to bed early as good runners should.
But the next morning disaster came just as quickly as the iron axe head flew into the water! There must have been something wrong with the food - we all had upset stomachs. I had to run to the toilet seven times before the start of the race.
We were driven up Bruintjieshoogte pass, dropped off at the start and then had to run back to town. Two portable toilets were placed at the start. 5 min. before the start of the race I had to run to the toilet again! As I was sitting in this portable toilet, I prayed a simple prayer. I don't know if my faith was enough to make iron float or a running stomach to stop. I don't think so, but all I can say is: my friends spent time in the bushes all through the race. I did not!
God chooses to care for us in all aspects of life. Literally!
It's not about us, it is about Him, because of who He is!
No one who puts their trust in Him will ever be put to shame. I dare you to test this!

It is just normal to be
